Welcome to Cox ...

So far, we found very little information about Cox. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Cox to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Cox - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Cox, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Cox , we believe that it would have been located within present day Licking County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Cox, you might consider that their post office opened in 1859.

Time Zone: The area where Cox was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Ohio communities named Cox: This one is located in Licking County and the other is located in Vinton County.

Beyond Ohio, there are 22 communities that are also named Cox - they are located in Alabama (2), Arizona, California (2), Florida, Georgia (3), Idaho, Maryland (2), Mississippi (2), Missouri, South Carolina (2), Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Cox was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>
