The community of Chillicothe is the Seat for Ross County.

Ross County was founded August 20, 1798. Ross was created by taking area from Adams and Washington Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Ross had a population of 76,613 people. This is a decrease of 1.86% since the last Census (which gave a population of 78,064 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Ross represented 0.68% of the total population of Ohio.
