Knox County was founded March 1, 1808 and was created by taking area from Fairfield County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Knox had a population of 62,322 people. This is an increase of 2.02% since the last Census (which gave a population of 61,090 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Knox represented 0.53% of the total population of Ohio.
