Welcome to Armenia ...

So far, we have found very little information about Armenia. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Adding Armenia to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Armenia in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

In addition, our notes show that the earliest dated mention that we've found for Armenia was in the Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).

We also found Armenia on a map titled George#&160;F. Cram Map (1901).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Armenia, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Ohio's counties, including Washington, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
<3>The location has been supplied by the Geographic Names Information System - which is maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). While these values should be definitive, we have found that accuracy can vary and you should double-check the location if accuracy is required.
<4>The elevation is an estimate for the area around Armenia - it will be higher in some places and lower in others.
<5>Our distances are not driving distances, but are calculated as a 'point-to-point' distance. A straight line distance ignores obstructions like rivers, canyons, lakes, et cetera - it's truly a line drawn from Point A (ie- Armenia) to Point B.Our distance measurements begin at a specific point in Armenia. The point we use is located at these GPS coordinates - Latitude: 39.2251, Longitude: -81.7012       In this case, the coordinates for Armenia have been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS).
