So far, we found very little information about Suydam. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Suydam would have been located within present day Columbia County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Suydam, you might consider that their post office opened in 1885.

Adding Suydam to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source (so far) we've referenced which mentioned Suydam was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Suydam post office opened in 1885. The Suydam post office closed in 1912.

<3>When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code.
