Welcome to Granton ...

So far, we found very little information about Granton. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Granton to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Granton - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Granton, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Granton , we believe that it would have been located within present day Delaware County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Granton, you might consider that their post office opened in 1892. The community was inundated by the Cannonsville Reservoir.

Time Zone: The area where Granton was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Granton was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Granton post office opened in 1892.

We also found Granton on a map titled Rand McNally Map of New York (1897).
