Welcome to Delta ...

So far, we found very little information about Delta. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Delta to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Delta - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Delta, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Delta , we believe that it would have been located within present day Oneida County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Delta, you might consider that their post office opened in 1834. The community was inundated by Delta Lake.

Time Zone: The area where Delta was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Delta was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

X2X - From that list, the Delta post office opened in 1834.

We also found Delta in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).

However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. <3>	When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 315 code has been Overlayed with the 680 area code. New phone numbers in the Delta area will be assigned with one of these codes: 315 or 680. As a result, placing a call in the Delta area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).
