Time Zone: Suffolk County lies in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time.
The community of Riverhead is the Seat for Suffolk County.
Suffolk County is one of the original counties of New York and was founded in 1683.
From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Suffolk had a population of 1,478,325 people. This is a decrease of 1.01% since the last Census (which gave a population of 1,493,350 people in 2010).
