The community of Binghamton is the Seat for Broome County.

Broome County was founded in 1806 and was created by taking area from Tioga County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Broome had a population of 190,737 people. This is a decrease of 4.92% since the last Census (which gave a population of 200,600 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Broome represented 1.04% of the total population of New York.

    • The GenDisasters website specializes in newspaper articles about tragedies and disasters. While it makes interesting reading all by itself, it should be of special interest to genealogists and family historians looking for people who were either affected by or directly involved in such tragedies.
