The community of Albany is the Seat for Albany County. In addition, the community of Albany is also the capital of New York.

Albany County is one of the original counties of New York and was founded in 1683.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Albany had a population of 304,752 people. This is an increase of 0.18% since the last Census (which gave a population of 304,204 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Albany represented 1.57% of the total population of New York.

    • The GenDisasters website specializes in newspaper articles about tragedies and disasters. While it makes interesting reading all by itself, it should be of special interest to genealogists and family historians looking for people who were either affected by or directly involved in such tragedies.
