Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Allegany had an population of 1,696 people. This is a decrease of 6.61% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 9.93% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Allegany had a population of 1,816 people. This makes Allegany the county's 19th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,816 people, the population of Allegany decreased 3.56% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 1,883 people).
