Welcome to Rider ...

So far, we found very little information about Rider. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Rider to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Rider - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Rider, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Rider , we believe that it would have been located within present day Nye County<2>.

Time Zone: The area where Rider was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

Adding Rider to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Rider was in the book titled SPV's Comprehensive Railroad Atlas of North America - California & Nevada.

For more details, see References and Mentions for Rider.

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Rider, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Nevada's counties, including Nye, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
