How Far From Palisade to ...
We spend a lot of time looking through Gazetteers that were published in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Many of the Gazetteers include the distance from a community such as Palisade to various places of note, such as the White House.
With a nod to our favorite Gazetteers and using the location of where the historic<5> community of Palisade once stood, the straight-line distance beginning in Palisade and extending to:
- Eureka, which is the Seat of Eureka County, lies 76 miles [122.3 km]<1> to the south. If you could drive a straight line from Palisade to Eureka, with an average speed<6>of 63 miles [101.4 km] per hour, it would take less than two hours to make the trip. A comfortable walk of 2.2 miles [3.5 km] per hour would take 5 days. A horse and buggy averaging 3.2 miles [5.1 km] per hour would take most of three days.
- Carson City, which is the State Capital of Nevada, lies 213 miles [342.8 km] to the west southwest (WSW). Driving would take a little over three hours, a buggy would take 9 days and walking would take 13 days.
- The White House (Washington, DC) is 2,065 miles [3,323.3 km] to the east (E). Driving would take 4 days, a buggy would take 81 days and walking would take 118 days.
