Washoe County is one of the original counties of Nevada and was founded November 25, 1861.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Washoe had a population of 471,519 people. This is an increase of 11.75% since the last Census (which gave a population of 421,954 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Washoe represented 15.62% of the total population of Nevada.
