The community of Reno is the Seat for Washoe County.

Washoe County is one of the original counties of Nevada and was founded November 25, 1861.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Washoe had a population of 472,381 people. This is an increase of 12.1% since the last Census (which gave a population of 421,407 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Washoe represented 15.6% of the total population of Nevada.
