The community of Lovelock is the Seat for Pershing County.

Pershing County was founded March 18, 1919 and was created by taking area from HumboldtCounty.

From the Census Estimates for 2009, <1> Pershing had a population of 6,286 people. This is a decrease of 6.08% since the last Census (which gave a population of 6,693 people in 2000).

At the time of the 2000 Census, Pershing represented 0.33% of the total population of Nevada, making it the state's 10th most populous county (out of 17 counties).
