Eureka County was founded March 1, 1873 and was created by taking area from Lander County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Eureka had a population of 2,029 people. This is an increase of 1.96% since the last Census (which gave a population of 1,990 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Eureka represented 0.07% of the total population of Nevada.
