The Commemorative Quarter for Nevada

Welcome to Coin ...

So far, we found very little information about Coin. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Coin to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Coin - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Coin, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Coin , we believe that it would have been located within present day Humboldt County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Coin, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was on a map dated 1883.

Time Zone: The area where Coin was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

The location where Coin once stood is in the (775) area code.

Communities Also Named Coin ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Nevada communities named Coin: This one is located in Humboldt County and the other is located in Elko County.

Beyond Nevada, there are 6 communities that are also named Coin - they are located in Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky and Minnesota.

For more information, see our Tidbits & Trivia Page for Coin.

Adding Coin to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Coin was on a map titled George#&160;F. Cram Map of Nevada (1883).

We also found Coin in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Coin, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Nevada's counties, including Humboldt, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
