Welcome to Carp ...

So far, we found very little information about Carp. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Carp to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Carp - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Carp, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Carp , we believe that it would have been located within present day Eureka County<2>.

Carp was founded in 1888.

Time Zone: The area where Carp was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

Communities Also Named Carp ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Nevada communities named Carp: This one is located in Eureka County and the other is located in Lincoln County.

Beyond Nevada, there are 10 communities that are also named Carp - they are located in British Columbia, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ontario (3), South Carolina and Tennessee.

For more information, see our Tidbits & Trivia Page for Carp.

Adding Carp to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Carp was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Carp post office opened in 1888.

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Carp, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Nevada's counties, including Eureka, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
