Welcome to Yucca ...

So far, we found very little information about Yucca. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Yucca to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Yucca - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Yucca, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Yucca , we believe that it would have been located within present day Custer County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Yucca, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1885.

Time Zone: The area where Yucca was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Yucca would have been located in the (308) area code.

Communities Also Named Yucca ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 2 communities that are also named Yucca - they are located in Alabama and Arizona.

For more information, see our Tidbits & Trivia Page for Yucca.

Adding Yucca to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Yucca was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Yucca post office opened in 1885.

We also found Yucca on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Nebraska (1895).

For more details, see References and Mentions for Yucca.

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Yucca, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Nebraska's counties, including Custer, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
