So far, we found very little information about Winfield. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Winfield would have been located within present day Brown County<2>.


The location of Winfield has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Winfield, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1886.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Winfield is 2,250 feet [686 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Winfield is about ½ mile above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Winfield was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Winfield would have been located in the (402) and (531)<5> area codes.

We originally found mention of Winfield in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Winfield was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Winfield post office opened in 1886.

We also found Winfield on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Nebraska (1895).
