Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Tekamah had an population of 1,721 people. This is a decrease of 0.86% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 9.04% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Tekamah had a population of 1,736 people (or 25.37% of the total population of Burt County). This makes Tekamah the county's most populous community.

The population of Tekamah represents 0.1% of the population of Nebraska (which has 1,826,341 people), making it the state's 64th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,736 people, the population of Tekamah decreased 8.25% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 1,892 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Tekamah was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<9>
