Welcome to Swan ...

So far, we found very little information about Swan. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Swan to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Swan - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Swan, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Swan , we believe that it would have been located within present day Holt County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Swan, you might consider that their post office opened in 1886.

Time Zone: The area where Swan was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

The location where Swan once stood is in the (402) & (531)<3> area codes.

Communities Also Named Swan ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 13 communities that are also named Swan - they are located in Colorado, Georgia (2), Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Swan was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Swan post office opened in 1886.

We also found Swan on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Nebraska (1895).
