So far, we found very little information about Somerford. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

While we don't have the exact location of Somerford , we believe that it would have been located within present day Custer County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Somerford, you might consider that their post office opened in 1883.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Somerford was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Somerford post office opened in 1883.
