So far, we found very little information about Sawyer. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Sawyer would have been located within present day Fillmore County<2>.


The location of Sawyer has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Sawyer, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1888.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Sawyer is 1,630 feet [497 m] above sea level.<4>.

Time Zone: The area where Sawyer was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Sawyer would have been located in the (402) & (531)<5> area codes.

We originally found mention of Sawyer in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Sawyer was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Sawyer post office opened in 1888.

We also found Sawyer on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Nebraska (1895).
