Welcome to Margate ...

So far, we found very little information about Margate. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Margate to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. While we don't have the exact location of Margate , we believe that it would have been located within present day Cheyenne County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Margate, you might get a feel for it by knowing that the earliest mention that we've found (so far) was on a map dated 1895.

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 4 communities that are also named Margate - they are located in Florida, Maryland (2) and Prince Edward Island.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Margate was on a map titled Map of Nebraska (from Rand McNally, 1895).

We also found Margate mentioned on a train schedule titled Union Pacific Railroad Time Tables (September 1924).
