Some communities are located in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and they observe daylight saving time. The other communities are located in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and they observe daylight saving time. The community of Valentine is the Seat for Cherry County. Cherry County was founded in 1883. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Cherry had a population of 5,757 people. This is an increase of 0.77% since the last Census (which gave a population of 5,713 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Cherry represented 0.31% of the total population of Nebraska.
