So far, we found very little information about Austin. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>
We've added Austin to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. While we don't have the exact location of Austin , we believe that it would have been located within present day Sherman County<2>.
While we don't have a date for the founding of Austin, you might consider that their post office opened in 1877.
When the people of Austin referred to themselves (known as a demonym), they are believed to have used Austinite<3>
