Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Wendell had an population of 8,604 people. This is an increase of 47.2% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 102.59% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Wendell had a population of 5,845 people. This makes Wendell the county's 6th most populous community.

The population of Wendell represents 0.06% of the population of North Carolina (which has 9,535,483 people), making it the state's 119th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 5,845 people, the population of Wendell increased 37.63% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 4,247 people).
