The Commemorative Quarter for North Carolina

Miscellaneous References and Mentions

While our initial information about Sands came from various goverment sources (GNIS, FIPS), we also found mention of Sands in various books, maps and other sources.

We've created the following list to keep track of the sources that proved useful in adding to our knowledge about Sands. We hope that they will be useful to you.

Note: Initially, we were careless about keeping track of where our Sands data came from. The following list of references and mentions is incomplete.

Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895)
Published by Rand McNally & Co.

A note taken from the Shipper's Guide for Sands:
Services available in 1895: had a Post Office, no Railroad mentioned

Rand McNally Map of North Carolina (1911)
Published by Rand McNally & Co.

Sands is contained in a comprehensive list of Post Offices that was created by Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<1>

Both the GNIS and FIPS databases contain entries for Sands. See our Misc Page for Sands for more information.
