With a 2010 count of 179 people, the population of Pantego increased 5.29% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 170 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Pantego was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Pantego post office opened in 1825.

We also found Pantego in the book titled Table of U.S. Post Offices in the United States (Jan. 1851).
