Welcome to Judson ...

So far, we found very little information about Judson. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Judson would have been located within present day Swain County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Judson, you might consider that their post office opened in 1886. The community was inundated by Fontana Lake.

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two North Carolina communities named Judson: This one is located in Swain County and the other is located in Cumberland County.

The earliest source (so far) we've referenced which mentioned Judson was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Judson post office opened in 1886. The Judson post office closed in 1944.
