Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Columbia had an population of 760 people. This is a decrease of 14.7% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 7.2% since the 2000 Census).
At the time of the 2010 Census, Columbia had a population of 891 people (or 20.18% of the total population of Tyrrell County). This makes Columbia the county's most populous community.
With a 2010 count of 891 people, the population of Columbia increased 8.79% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 819 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Columbia was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>
From that list, the Columbia post office opened in 1819.
We also found Columbia in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
