Welcome to Alma ...

The coastal village of Alma is located on the east coast of New Brunswick (on Chignecto Bay, at the north end of the Bay of Fundy).

While we don't have a date for the founding of Alma, you might get a feel for it by knowing that the earliest mention that we've found (so far) was on a map dated 1897.

Time Zone: Alma lies in the Atlantic Time Zone (AST/ADT) and observes daylight saving time. The time zone in French: AST- Heure Normale de l'Atlantique (HNA), ADT- Heure Avancée de l'Atlantique (HAA).

The earliest source (so far) we've referenced which mentioned Alma was on a map titled Map of Maritime Provinces of Canada (from Rand McNally, 1897).

<1>When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 506 code has been Overlayed with the 428 area code. New phone numbers in the Alma area will be assigned with one of these codes: 506 or 428. As a result, placing a call in the Alma area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).
<2>The Canadian Postal Code consists of 6 characters, where the first three characters are the 'Forward Sortation Area (FSA)', with the last three characters being the 'Local Delivery Unit (LDU)'.
