The pronunciation of Washoe: WASH-oh<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Washoe, you might consider that their post office opened in 1907. While the community is gone, the present day location for Washoe is 5,000 feet [1,524 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Washoe is about 1 mile [or ~1½ km] above sea level.
