Welcome to Red Mountain ...So far, we found very little information about Red Mountain. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Red Mountain to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. The location of Red Mountain has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Red Mountain, you might consider that their post office opened in 1880. A typical abbreviation for Red Mountain: Red Mtn. (or less commonly used: Red Mntn.) While the community is gone, the present day location for Red Mountain is 7,520 feet [2,292 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Red Mountain is about 1½ mile [or ~2¼ km] above sea level. Time Zone: The area where Red Mountain was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time If Red Mountain still existed, it would have been in the (406) area code.
