Treasure County was founded in 1919 and was created by taking area from Rosebud County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Treasure had a population of 696 people. This is a decrease of 3.06% since the last Census (which gave a population of 718 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Treasure represented 0.07% of the total population of Montana.
