So far, we found very little information about Bowler. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Bowler would have been located within present day Carbon County<2>.


The location of Bowler has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Bowler, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1894.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Bowler is 4,690 feet [1,430 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Bowler is about ¾ mile [or ~1½ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Bowler was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Bowler still existed, it would have been in the (406) area code.

Adding Bowler to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Bowler in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Bowler was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Bowler post office opened in 1894.

We also found Bowler on a map titled Hixson Map of Montana (1950).
