The community of Senatobia is the Seat for Tate County.

Tate County was founded in 1873. Tate was created by taking area from DeSoto and Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2009, <1> Tate had a population of 27,337 people. This is an increase of 7.75% since the last Census (which gave a population of 25,370 people in 2000).

At the time of the 2000 Census, Tate represented 0.89% of the total population of Mississippi, making it the state's 38th most populous county (out of 82 counties).
