Humphreys County was founded in 1918. Humphreys was created by taking area from Holmes, Sunflower, Washington and Yazoo Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Humphreys had a population of 8,056 people. This is a decrease of 14.07% since the last Census (which gave a population of 9,375 people in 2010).
