Osage County was founded in 1841 and was created by taking area from Gasconade County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Osage had a population of 13,615 people. This is a decrease of 2.09% since the last Census (which gave a population of 13,905 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Osage represented 0.23% of the total population of Missouri.
