Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Waubun had an population of 406 people. This is an increase of 1.5% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 0.74% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Waubun had a population of 400 people (which is 7.39% of the total population of Mahnomen County). This makes Waubun the county's 2nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 400 people, the population of Waubun has remained roughly the same as the 2000 Census (which had a count of 403 people).

We originally found mention of Waubun in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Waubun was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Waubun post office opened in 1906.

We also found Waubun on a map titled Shell Oil Road Map for Minnesota (1956).
