The community of Two Harbors is the Seat for Lake County.

Lake County was founded in 1856 and was created by taking area from Itasca County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Lake had a population of 10,625 people. This is a decrease of 2.22% since the last Census (which gave a population of 10,866 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Lake represented 0.2% of the total population of Minnesota.
