Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Blue Earth had an population of 3,113 people. This is a decrease of 7.16% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 14.03% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Blue Earth had a population of 3,353 people (or 23.04% of the total population of Faribault County). This makes Blue Earth the county's most populous community.

The population of Blue Earth represents 0.06% of the population of Minnesota (which has 5,303,925 people), making it the state's 194th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 3,353 people, the population of Blue Earth decreased 7.4% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 3,621 people).
