From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Manistee had a population of 24,619 people. This is a decrease of 0.46% since the last Census (which gave a population of 24,733 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Manistee represented 0.25% of the total population of Michigan.
