Emmet County was founded ? and was created by taking area from Mackinac County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Emmet had a population of 33,337 people. This is an increase of 1.97% since the last Census (which gave a population of 32,694 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Emmet represented 0.33% of the total population of Michigan.
