Cass County was founded October 29, 1829 and was created by taking area from Lenawee County. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Cass had a population of 51,787 people. This is a decrease of 0.88% since the last Census (which gave a population of 52,247 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Cass represented 0.53% of the total population of Michigan.
