The community of Cassopolis is the Seat for Cass County.

Cass County was founded October 29, 1829 and was created by taking area from Lenawee County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Cass had a population of 51,847 people. This is a decrease of 0.85% since the last Census (which gave a population of 52,293 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Cass represented 0.53% of the total population of Michigan.
