<1>	When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 301 code has been Overlayed with one of the following codes: 227 or 240. New phone numbers in the North Lynch Estates area will be assigned with one of these codes: 301, 227 or 240. As a result, placing a call in the North Lynch Estates area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).
<2>	The elevation is an estimate for the area around North Lynch Estates - it will be higher in some places and lower in others.

The value given by the Census Bureau reflects their statistical (or sampling) requirements. For example, if there is a cluster of people living just outside of the community's official boundary, the Census-defined area might be expanded to include that group.
