At the time of the 2010 Census, Frostburg had a population of 9,002 people (which is 12.01% of the total population of Allegany County). This makes Frostburg the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Frostburg represents 0.16% of the total population of Maryland (which has 5,773,552 people), making it the state's 25th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 9,002 people, the population of Frostburg increased 14.34% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 7,873 people).
