The community of Annapolis is the Seat for Anne Arundel County. Annapolis is also the capital of Maryland.

Anne Arundel County was founded in 1650 and was created by taking area from Saint Mary's County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Anne Arundel had a population of 579,895 people. This is an increase of 7.86% since the last Census (which gave a population of 537,656 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Anne Arundel represented 9.31% of the total population of Maryland.
